Baptism is a symbol of one’s identification by faith with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It is like a wedding ring-it is an outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart to follow Jesus. If you’ve accepted Christ and have never been baptized, you’ve waited long enough! It’s time you followed His example and His command to be baptized. Usually three times a year (on MLK Jr. Day in January, Memorial Day in May and on Labor Day in September) we have a beach baptism celebration at Kamaole III Park beach in Kihei.
Hundreds from our congregation show up to join in the event, which involves singing, hula and then baptism in the Pacific Ocean. A potluck lunch follows, along with volleyball, swimming, and enjoying the beach.
