Back to the Basics of Church-“Basic Training”
Your decision to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior is, and will be, the most important decision you will have ever made in your life!
“For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”
This commitment is the beginning of a life-long eternal relationship with God. When you received Jesus, you became a brand new person (2 Corinthians 5:17) and a child of God (John 1:12). In the words of Jesus, you have been “born again” (John 3:3). Just as being born physically is the beginning of living and growing, so too, being “born again” spiritually begins a life of growing in Him. Just as our earthly parents would never intend for us to remain a baby, likewise our Heavenly Father does not expect us to stay a spiritual infant either. Our Heavenly Father has provided all that is needed for us to grow (2 Peter 1:3). So in order for you to grow and develop from an infant to a spiritual adult, here are a few highly recommended time-tested suggestions from God’s Word.
- Listen to the messages below and follow along by filling in the blanks of the handouts provided. These teachings from Pastor Craig Englert will give you four vital ingredients necessary to grow in your walk with Christ.
- Attend regularly a weekend service and a mid-week small group so that you can receive the benefits of Christ’s gifts (teaching, encouragement, mercy, healing, etc.).
- Get water baptized (a sign that you are a follower of Jesus). Our beach baptisms are held 3 times a year. Let us know on a comment card if you are interested.
- Participate in a 10 week series called Alpha on Mondays. This is a series especially designed for those investigating about Jesus who have recently started their new journey with God. These are usually held two or three times a year in our church courtyard, 6-8 pm. Childcare is provided.
I want to encourage you to read the resources in this folder. They are the basic building blocks to spiritual development. God bless you in your walk with Him! If there is any way I can assist you, please give me a call at 879-3853, ext. 229
