DAILY DEVOTIONAL:

Brandon McAlister, one of our Children's Interns, reminds us today of these truths in God's Word. Listen to his devotional!

UNITED PRAYER:

Take some time to read through Philippians 1 & meditate on Paul’s prayer at the end, written for the Church of Philippi.

“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” Philippians 1:3-11 NLT

Think about who you could be praying for today. Pick one or two people to pray this over now. It could be someone in your local life, church, family, or neighborhood. It could be people who you don’t know too well, but might have the ability to get to know. People who you always seem to be passing. People who you can’t really get to know or live far away, or in another country. People who, for whatever reason, you are not usually thinking of. Who does this scripture make you think of initially, when you read it? Take some time to lift them up to God, right now.

As we pray, remember, we are the church too. To be in prayer is one of the most loving things we can do for one another, as the body of Christ.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34

FAMILY RESOURCES: Soda Bottle Bowling

Are you doing the same outdoor games and activities? There are still so many new ones that you can do as a family, and you might just be able to set them up with a bunch of things you already have at home. Check out this link for some new ideas: https://www.prudentpennypincher.com/diy-backyard-games/

One of our favorites is Soda Bottle Bowling:

We bet you may have all of the pieces at your house already!

3 Pool Noodles
Empty Plastic Soda Bottles
Yoga Mat
Serrated Knife
Toothpicks
Beach Ball
Beans or Sand

ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:
Measure the width of your yoga mat and cut one of the pool noodles the same size. To cut the pool noodle just use a serrated knife and a cutting board (don’t let the kids do this part).

Next, cut each end of the pool noodle at a 45-degree angle.
Cut two more pieces from your pool noodle and cut one end on each at 45 degrees also.
Insert 3 toothpicks into the end of one of the pool noodles.

Attach it to one of the other cut pool noodle pieces using the toothpicks. Press until the toothpicks are totally embedded in the noodle. If you have little kids you’re going to want to make sure you take this apart for them so they don’t get a hold of the toothpicks by accident.
Next, attach 1 uncut pool noodle to each end using toothpicks again.

Now just roll the yoga mat out in-between the pool noodle bumpers you just created.

MAKE THE BOWLING PINS:
First step is to find some empty soda or water bottles.

Next, wash out the bottle and let it dry completely. Make sure you keep the lid.
The empty bottles need to be a bit heavier otherwise the game is too easy. To weigh down the bottles fill them with dried beans (you could also use sand). We recommend filling each bottle about halfway with beans.

After you’ve filled all the bottles with beans replace the lids.

Arrange the bowling pins on the yoga mat and play!!
