WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31-32; John 20:31; Acts 20:32, Psalm 19:7-11)

THE NATURE OF GOD

We believe that there is only One God (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 46:9-10, John 17:3); He has existed eternally as three persons (the Trinity of God): Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; Psalm 45:6-7; Psalm 110:1; Matthew 3: 13-17; Matthew 28: 17-20; John 1:1, 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 1 Corinthians 8:4-6)

JESUS

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully human. He died for our sins and rose again on the third day. He is the Messiah and will come again to judge the world. (Matthew 1:20; Luke 2:52; John 1:1-4, 3:16, 14:6, 10:30; Romans 1:3, 10:9, Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-3)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We teach that the Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ at the moment of salvation, and He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. (John 14:16, 17, 26 & 15:26, 27; John 16:9–14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19; Galatians 5:22–26)

MAN’S PROBLEM (SIN)

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but I am, along with all humanity (Christ excluded), by birth and action a sinner. The deserved penalty for sin is death, both physical and spiritual. (Genesis 2:15-17, 2:26-27, 3:19, 6:5; Romans 5:12; 6:23, James 1:14-15; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:23, 5:8, 5:12-21, 6:23, 7:18; Ephesians 2:1-3)

THE SOLUTION TO MAN’S PROBLEM

We believe that even while we were hostile to God, Jesus took our punishment on Himself, providing a pardon for all who would trust Him. Jesus Christ died as my substitute on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. Jesus then rose from the dead. (John 1:29, 3:16, 10:1-18, Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 1:4; 1 Peter 3:18)

GOD’S GIFT OF GRACE

We believe that it is impossible to do anything to earn or merit God’s priceless love; instead forgiveness comes to us as a gift from God. We are saved by grace and grace alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

DISCOVERING GOD’S GIFT

We believe that by sincerely and wholeheartedly turning to Jesus in faith, we are accepted by God and forgiven of our sins. Only by trusting in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone can I be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy. (2 Corinthians 7:10, 1 John 1:9, John 3:18, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:21-26; 1 Timothy 2: 5-6)

THE CHURCH

We teach that Jesus established the global and local church and is the head. All true believers in Christ belong to the church and are called to be part of a local church. It’s a joy and responsibility to not neglect meeting as a local church for worship, ministry, and fellowship. We teach that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. (Ephesians 2:19–22; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:19–21; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23–25)
